- Sheet vinyl is a bad option to use on wood floors. This does more harm than good to the floors and also makes it dull very quickly. If yo have wooden flooring in the kitchen, make sure to place an area rug in front of the kitchen sink to catch any spills.
- Dirt and dust can be quickly spotted on wooden floors. So, keep throw rugs and mats at the doors and other places in the house to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt.
- Always sweep or vacuum wood floors on a regular basis to keep them looking good.
- Never wipe a wood floor with a wet mop. Standing water is harmful for the wood as it can dull the finish, damage it, and leave a discolored residue on the floor.
- Wipe up food and other spills immediately with a dry or silghtly dampened towel to avoid stains on the floor.
